As an active dentist in private practice, transitioning my practice seemed a daunting task.  Who should handle the transition?  How does it work?  What sort of documentation is needed?  How much will it cost?  Am I better doing it myself?  How much time will it take?

The first question was the most important.  Unlike working with an attorney, accountant or management consultant; selling a practice is more or less a one time event.  It is not possible to develop a relationship over years with a professional who will handle this critical piece of a dentist’s life.  I decided to work with Dan Lewis and I couldn’t be more pleased with that decision.  Dan developed the plan and worked the details that both put my worries to rest and maximized the outcome of the transition.  He answered my questioned, advertised, interviewed potential candidates, arranged the paperwork, and held my hand when needed.

Yes, I had to pay for these services but in hindsight the idea of selling the practice by myself wasn’t worth considering.  The time commitment alone would have been prohibitive and there were so many things that Dan addressed that I was not aware of and would have missed entirely.  Having a professional who knew the process intimately allowed for a far higher price than I could have secured myself as well as freeing me to focus on my patients.  This allowed me to maintain the practice and thereby offer it at its maximum potential, to maintain confidentiality and let me deliver the quality care we all strive for.

It’s hard to find the right words to describe the experience and how grateful I am to Dan.  So let me offer some adjectives I would use to describe Dan; knowledgeable, thoughtful, trustworthy, objective, detailed oriented, dependable, connected, and in a word PROFESSIONAL.
