When Dr. Mark Glover began planning for the future of his longtime Dallas periodontal practice, the goal was to create a gradual transition that would provide continuity for his patients, staff and referring doctors while allowing the next generation of the practice to develop naturally. We were fortunate to work with Dr. Glover and Dr. Akshay Chhana to put that plan into place. Rather than Dr. Glover immediately stepping away, Dr. Chhana joined the practice and began working alongside him, giving patients and referring doctors an opportunity to get to know him while Dr. Glover remained actively involved.
Dr. Chhana brought an impressive background to the practice. A Texas native, he attended Baylor University before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with High Honors from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He later completed a three-year residency at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry, earning both his specialty certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Dentistry.
Just as importantly, the two doctors shared a similar approach to patient care. Dr. Glover had the opportunity to get to know Dr. Chhana personally before the transition and believed his clinical skills, character and commitment to patients made him a strong fit for the practice. Today, that gradual approach continues to serve the practice well. Dr. Glover and Dr. Chhana continue working together in Dallas, combining Dr. Glover’s decades of experience with Dr. Chhana’s advanced training and a shared commitment to periodontal and implant care.
